International aerospace and defense engineering group Parker Meggitt has launched iPRESS, a long-range wireless tire pressure gauge for the aviation market.
iPRESS is the culmination of Parker Meggitt’s ongoing work with Textron Aviation to develop a wireless system specifically to check tire pressure in real time, without the need for manual checks, which the company believes can help extend tire life and reduce human error resulting in increased flight reliability and cost savings.
The new gauge delivers an enhanced user experience whilst verifying inflation pressure through the use of Parker Meggitt’s Wireless Tire Pressure Sensor (WTPS), and a new tire pressure status feature that is integrated into the Textron Aviation Service app for smartphones and tablets.
“Maintaining tire inflation pressure in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications is not only essential for safe aircraft operations but also extends tire life and reduces cost,” said Chris Allen, President of Parker Meggitt’s Airframe Systems division. “We are excited to introduce iPRESS to the market as it is truly representative of an engineering breakthrough which leads to a better tomorrow.”
iPRESS will soon be available for a range of Cessna and Beechcraft products manufactured by Textron Aviation.
